Sierra Foothills Mushroom Adventure and Cooking Demo
Join Todd Spanier, the “king of mushrooms,” on a foraging adventure in the breathtaking Sierra Foothills. Todd is a long-time forager and mushroom chef with a decade-long history of providing some of the top restaurants in California with the choicest mushrooms. We’re super excited to have him on board.
The class will meet at a secret location near the Sierra Foothills, the exact spot to be revealed 48 hours before the start of class, but you can expect a 2.5-3 hour drive from San Francisco. You never know when the weather might turn and a great crop of porcini will pop, so Todd wants to be sure you’re headed to the very best spots for your forage — and to keep you in suspense. After class, you’ll be able to observe his culinary talent at work during a mushroom cooking demo, while learning what to do with your haul when you get home.
Please note that, although our foragers almost always go home with mushrooms, we are at the whim of nature, so we can’t guarantee you’ll find any on your trip. We can, however, promise that you’ll have a great time and learn a ton about foraging!
